A professor of African art at Yale traced the concept of cool back to a 15th century king in the Nigerian empire of Benin who was awarded the name Ewuare, meaning "it is cool". He brought peace to a region that was torn by war.

Other cool words that were born in Africa are newness, salinity, healing, rebirth, wetness and silence.

Cool stuff emerged from Europe too, but I've been hearing about Europe my whole life. Africa is as entangled in America as Europe is, but America is fat and mean and doesn't want to talk about it. So I will.

This is American and it encompasses all of those African born words for cool so beautifully:
